PATCO Lindenwold Yard & Viaduct Rehabilitation
Delaware River Port Authority (DRPA) awarded contract 14-N to perform construction engineering services for the rehabilitation of track in PATCO’s storage yard in Lindenwold, NJ. The construction project estimate was approximately $39 million which included the replacement / rehabilitation of approximately 25,000 LF of track, the replacement of fasteners and the direct fixation system on the Lindenwold Viaduct over New Jersey Transit, the replacement / rehabilitation of 49 turnouts and support components including crosstie replacements in the yard tracks and timber replacements in the turnouts, replacing all the 3rd rail contact rail timbers and cover boards, electrical duct bank , improvements to power feeders, traction power, communications, and lighting system in yard and infrastructure and removal of legacy way & power work equipment. The project was completed in 39 months and included the replacement of 26.4 KV & 2.4 KV aerial cables and installation of new pole line.

- Garg Consulting Services, Inc. provided Construction Engineering and Inspection Services for daily inspection and accounting of contractor activities
- Documenting all work progress ensuring conformance to plans and specifications
- Assisting in solving construction issues
- Work methodology reviews
- Assisting in providing input for payment requisitions
- Document control and project safety.
- The major construction activities of work included civil improvements to grade crossings, drainage and pedestrian walkways, electrical requirements for power, contact rail system- new brackets and cover boards, positive & negative DC power feeders for 3rd rail, switch heater control system, manual push button control system for train movements, raceways and duct bank system for electrical, signal and communications, electrical panel boards, grounding and bonding and yard lighting.
